IS Security is a multi-dimensional assemblage of topics, all of which converge in the data center.
IS Security expertise is an ideal adjunct in my practice as a data center consultant. I view the data center as a risk management device for the Business, and being a Security professional as well as a data center professional gives me a perspective on data center topics that extend well into the Business beyond simply the facility, the real estate, or the enterprise IT architecture.
My Clients find this very helpful when the data center project focuses on high availability, regulatory compliance, data governance, and disaster avoidance.
I have several certifications and credentials relevant to the security consultancy that I do in my practice.
I have an active CISSP certification (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), administered through ISC2. This is still the premier certification among security professionals in the industry, and I have carried it for over five years.
I also have a Masters degree in Information Systems Security Management, from Villanova University. I believe that academic credentials are essential for anyone serving as a thought leader in their corner of the industry.
Thirdly, I have an active CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology) credential, administered through ISACA. This is a professional certification focused on management of enterprise risk, and aligning the strategic vision of an organization to the governance of Information Technology.
I also teach IS Security as an adjunct professor at a university in Georgia (when my project schedule allows), and also serve on the advisory board of the Computer Science department. I truly love the academic environment and get a lot of satisfaction through teaching and in the lasting relationships that I have with students from my classes.
